One Chick, Two Chick, Three Chick....Four!

Well its been way too long and the time has come again for chickens. I love chickens! This yard needs chickens I'd say. I've missed the little feathery things we once had running around our property, and now that it appears we will be living here for quite some time. Why not! (By "quite some time" I mean Dominic hasn't been searching for homes on Craigslist the last few weeks.) Which for us is quite the accomplishment....Dalton's lived in 7 homes in his 14years. This home will have chickens!

Did I mention that I love chickens?! There is something about them that seems so CountryChic, so Martha, so Me. Something wonderful about food made with fresh farm eggs, the taste has a richer, deeper flavor. Something wonderful about feathery plump chickens scratching around in the garden.

Only one problem...We need to build a chicken coop! Thus the plans I purchased from http://www.mypetchicken.com/ to build the coop above. Love it, but forty pages later just a tad bit discouraged about "quick chicks" in the garden. There is nothing quick about 40 pages of instructions! Like I need another big project to add to my list of projects around here. I know ever time I come up with a new idea, Dom's head must be screaming inside " Why don't you finish painting the kitchen cabinets first!" Gotta love him for his enthusiastic encouragement each time I start something else.

So here goes. Chickens it is! You have to start them in a small box anyways, right? We'll work on that coop!

Day One....In the Begining

Well this begins my very first experience with the world of blogging...can I handle it, can I find the time, can I measure up to those who've gone before me...(can I figure it out, this is the main question!) I look at this new experience with excitement. Finally, somewhere to put down my thoughts, discoveries, experiments, mishaps....other than your typical journal. Honestly, I hate writing by hand. And now I can give my family and friends a small peek into my days without my typical "neck cramp" from the ear-to-shoulder phone hold. Hours a day in that position talking on the phone to my sisters and friends while my hands are busy working around the house, quite uncomfortable I might add. So here goes....their are so many wonderful blogs out there to draw ideas from I'm sure I'll be fine.
